James Hughes, PT
James Hughes is a RETAIN Return-to-Work Case Manager with Mayo Clinic. He has 48 years of experience as a Physical Therapist including serving as the Therapy Supervisor for the Mayo Work Rehabilitation Center. In the past 30 years, his professional expertise has been utilized to provide industrial therapy services and assist patients to rehabilitate following illnesses, accidents, surgeries and return to work. Additionally, he has over 30 years of experience with workers’ compensation cases. James’ expertise in rehabilitation, jobsite assessment, ergonomics, and accommodations in the workplace has been an asset for patients and employers.
Samantha (Sam) Westphal, RN, BSN, PHN
Samantha Westphal is a RETAIN Return-to-Work Case Manager with Mayo Clinic with almost 14 years of experience in the medical field. Prior to working with MN RETAIN, Samantha worked as a Mental Health RN Care Coordinator. Samantha has a wide variety of experience and knowledge when it comes to working through the medical system. Her educational background includes her Bachelors in Nursing Degree with an emphasis in Public Health Nursing. Before obtaining her Bachelors in Nursing Degree, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse with experience in an Occupational Medicine setting.
Ethan VanLaarhoven is a RETAIN Return-to-Work Case Manager with Mayo Clinic with 5 years of experience in the employment service industry. Previously, Ethan served as an Employer Outreach Specialist for Workforce Development, Inc., with the RETAIN program. Ethan specifically had the opportunity to work with individuals who were not able to be accommodated at their original employer and helped assist with different job accommodations. Prior to working at Workforce Development, Inc., Ethan served as an Employment Specialist for individuals with disabilities and as a Vocational Development and Training Specialist.
Cameron Sherrard is the Employer Outreach Specialist/Career Planner with the RETAIN program at Workforce Development, Inc. He looks forward to working with individuals who were not able to be accommodated at their original employer and assisting with different job accommodations and return to work programs. Cameron is also able to help connect individuals to additional Employment and Training programs they may be eligible for. Prior to working at Workforce Development, Inc., Cameron
worked in human resources for two years and served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for four years.
